USMC Combat Art Gallery

This exhibit tells an abbreviated history of the Marine Corps through the medium of art. Many artists represented in this National Collection are Marines who served as combat artists. Other works are produced by civilian artists and illustrators.

National Maritime Museum Fine Art Collection

The Traders gallery explores Britain's maritime trade with Asia, focusing on the role played by the East India Company - from the maritime world of Asia to the company in crisis.

USS Constitution Museum
For over 200 years, Constitution’s graceful lines and stunning victories have inspired artists at home and abroad. From French émigré artist Michele Felice Cornè’s lively 1803 gouache portrait to William Gilkerson’s careful pen and ink renderings of today, the image of Old Ironsides has graced scores of canvases and fine drawing pads. Many of the best-known artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries immortalized the ship or her crew. Some like Gilbert Stuart painted from life, leaving a contemporary record of great detail and luminosity. Others like Julian O. Davidson and George Ropes painted pictures of their glorious imaginings, their broad brush strokes like the sweep of time they portrayed.

Peabody Essex Museum

About one-tenth of the 25,000 marine paintings, drawings, and prints at the museum are catalogued and illustrated in the two Peabody Essex Museum publications, Marine Paintings and Drawings in the Peabody Museum of Salem and More Marine Paintings and Drawings in the Peabody Museum of Salem.
